Mamaw's Flowers

My Mamaw's gone but I recall
Her flowers on the table.
She never failed to fill the vase
As long as she was able.

The flowers bright would lift my soul
Their fragrance filled the air
Along with smells of baking bread
I wish that I was there.

Papaw and I would tease Mamaw
Her laughter bubbled over
Then I'd curl up and read a book
About a dog named Rover.

It seems like only yesterday
I see her smiling face
I smell the scent of flowers
As she puts them in the vase.
